语块与二语口语流利性的相关性研究 原萍 郭粉绒

提要:本研究从语块角度探讨口语流利性,考察语块运用与口语流利性之间的关系。研究采集了12名英语专业大二学生一年中两个不同阶段的口语语料,统计分析他们在两次口语产出中的流利性指标、语块运用能力变化以及语块与口语流利性之间的关系。结果显示:(1) 受试在口语流利性8项指标中的4项上有了显著提高,第二次语速远远快于第一次,发声时间比显著增加,平均语流大大加长,平均停顿长明显下降;(2)在使用语块的个数、频度方面,受试均有显著提高;(3)语块个数和语速、发声时间比、平均语流长、平均停顿长及语言准确性都显现出较强的相关性,语块使用频度和剔除音节数与总音节数之比呈较强的负相关,语块使用和语言复杂性未呈现相关性。

Abstract: The role of formulaic language or chunks in L2 speech production has been the focus of research in SLA in recent years. This study explores the relationship between learners' use of formulaic language and their oral fluency. Calculations and statistical analyses are made to see whether there are differences in the subjects' oral fluency indexes and use of chunks at the beginning  and the end of one school year, and whether there is a correlation between the subjects' ability to use chunks and their oral fluency. The study results show that: (1) there are significant differences in four fluency indexes, namely speaking rate, phonation/time ratio, mean length of speech run and average length of pause; (2) the number and frequency of chunks have greatly increased; (3) the number of chunks is highly correlated to speaking rate, phonation/time ratio, mean length of speech run, average length of pause and speech accuracy; the frequency of chunks is negatively correlated to the ratio of pruned length to total length; no correlation is found between the use of chunks and speech complexity.
